Overview
Wolf diagram
Quick Reference
A graph of star counts at various apparent magnitudes, from which the distance to a dark nebula can be determined. Max Wolf first plotted star counts for a dark nebula and a comparison field on the same graph, and used the magnitude at which the two counts started to diverge to estimate the distance at which the obscuration began.
