Upaveda

A category of knowledge (art or science) regarded as supplementary to the Veda, and sometimes artificially aligned with a particular Vedic school (śākhā). Four types are usually specified: Āyurveda (medicine), Gandharvaveda (music and dancing), Dhanurveda (martial arts (lit. ‘archery’), and Sthāpatyaveda (architecture) or, alternatively, Śilpaśāstra.
