A sophistical argument in the form of a sorites, the most familiar example being the following. One grain of sand is clearly not a heap of sand, and the addition of one grain to something that is not a heap can never transform it into a heap; therefore there can never be a heap of sand, and it would be futile to try to make one. A similar argument can be used to prove that no man is bald or that no one is old. It is considered by some to be a paradox but is more correctly classified as a fallacy.
