Are conflicts collectively involving allies (Lat. socii). The Social, Marsic, or Italic War (91–87 bc; the main fighting being in 90–89) was waged by Rome's Italian allies (among whom the Marsi were prominent) against her predominance. Rome gained the victory largely through the political concession of granting her citizenship to the enemy. Thereafter Italy, south of the Po (see padus), was united by the common bond of citizenship.
