1 A server which is placed outside an organization's computer network to provide a service which, if it was inside the network, would compromise network security. For example, an FTP server might be used as a sacrificial host.

2 A term used to describe a computer used by a security officer or system administrator to lure an intruder, in order to provide enough time for clues about the intruder's identity to be garnered. See also flytrap and Web trap.
