Quick Reference

(Lat., ‘whithersoever you please’).

An academic exercise in medieval universities. Originally it was a voluntary disputation in which a master undertook to deal with any question raised by any of the participants. The answers were afterwards drawn up in writing and published. In the 14th cent. it came to be part of the exercise required of a bachelor seeking the licentiate.
