King of Scotland (c. 843–58). He united the Scots and Picts to form the kingdom of Scotia (c.843), having succeeded in c.841 as King of Dalriada in the Highlands. In c.848 he moved the relics of St Columba to Scone, where the kings of Scotland were crowned.
