Basic Skills Agency
Instituted in 1995, the Basic Skills Agency is an independent, not‐for‐profit organization working in England and Wales. Its aims are to identify, develop, and disseminate innovation and knowledge in basic skills teaching and learning. Funded by the Department for Education and Skills, and working with a variety of providers, the Agency's innovation and development activities encompass initiatives from early years to adult. Since 2006 these have included projects with the Army and financial literacy, the 14–19‐year‐old phase of learning, families, and schools, who can work towards the Agency's Quality Mark.
