Johann Friedrich Agricola
(b Dobitschen, 1720; d Berlin, 1774).
Ger. composer, organist, conductor, and singing teacher. Became court composer to Frederick the Great in 1751, year after success of his first intermezzo Il filosofo convito in amore in Potsdam. Mus. dir., Berlin Opera 1759–72. Besides opera in the It. style, comp. oratorios, songs, and kbd. works.
