A *fantasy by the British journalist and novelist Vaughan Wilkins (1890–1959). It concerns the family of the Lord Wizard of Minchester; his wife owns a flying hat that does the shopping for her, but it disappears. The Lord Wizard goes in search of it, accompanied by two of his children’s toys, McAlpin the ‘Kolar bear’ and an elephant named Mr Velvet, whose job in the household is to sniff sugar up his trunk and then spray it neatly on the family’s portions of apple pie.... ...
