ethnocentricity (ethnocentrism)
The belief that a dominant *ethnic group is superior to other ethnic groups, and that its perspectives should be adopted at the individual and societal levels. This belief assumes that the characteristics, attitudes, and practices of the dominant ethnic group should be adopted by other ethnic groups and should be the organizing principles for the society as a whole, forming the basis of its culture. Other ethnic groups are expected to expunge their beliefs, attitudes, and practices, and to adopt those of the dominant culture.
