Herero Wars

(1904–08)

Campaigns by German colonialists against the Herero people in German South-West Africa (now Namibia). A Herero rebellion resulted in the near-extermination of the population by the Germans, their numbers falling from over 100,000 to 15,000. The survivors were resettled in the inhospitable desert land of contemporary Hereroland in Namibia.
