...odontodysplasia ( ghost teeth , odontogenesis imperfecta ) n. A localized developmental disturbance of tooth formation causing multiple defects in the epithelial and mesenchymal tissues of tooth development characterized by abnormal tooth morphology . The affected teeth have a rough discoloured surface with deficient dentine and enamel formation. The condition tends to affect several adjacent teeth, more commonly in the maxilla , but does not usually cross the midline . There may be evidence of mineralization in the pulp . The cause is unknown. ...
