..., Absalon Pederssøn ( 1528–1575 ), Norwegian theological educator and humanist. Orphaned at age six, he was raised as the foster son of Bishop Geble Pederssøn , the first Lutheran bishop of Bergen. Beyer was educated in the bishop's home and sent to study for six years at the University of Copenhagen and three years at Wittenberg. In Copenhagen Beyer lived with Peder Palladius , bishop of Zealand (Sjælland) and a good friend of his foster father. At Wittenberg he was strongly attracted by Philipp Melanchthon 's humanist training and theological outlook....
