...Abd al-RaḥīmAnbarīn-Qalam (late 16 th –early 17 th century) One of the many Iranian calligraphers and artists who emigrated to India during the Mughal era, especially during the 17 th century. ‘Abd al-Raḥīm was from Herat and worked at the court of the emperor Akbar (r. 1556–1605 ). After the latter’s death, he worked for his successor, Jahāngīr (r. 1605–27 ). He was a specialist in nasta‘līq *calligraphy , greatly appreciated by the emperor. In 1610 he produced a copy of the Khamsah of Niẓāmī (BL Or. 12208 ), which has his portrait painted...
