a Dominican who is most celebrated as the writer of three histories in the 1320s: his Anglo‐Norman Chronicle, extending from the Creation to 1285, containing the tale of Constance, told by Gower in Confessio Amantis and by Chaucer's Man of Law (Canterbury Tales, 5); Annals of Six Kings of England 1136–1307; and the Historia ab Orbe Condito (1327–9).
