śīla-pāramitā

(Skt.). ‘The Perfection of Morality’, the second of the Six Perfections (ṣaḍ-pāramitā) that make up the central element of the Bodhisattva Path. The cultivation of morality involves the elimination of immoral and unethical behaviour through adhering to a code of discipline, while simultaneously cultivating positive moral attitudes that are beneficial to oneself and others.
