Witness. Recitation of the Islamic witness of faith, “There is no god but God and Muhammad is the messenger of God”; the first of the five pillars of Islam. Shahadah is accepted as a declaration of acceptance of Islam by a convert: the convert has only to repeat it twice in the presence of at least one other Muslim.
