The package of policies adopted in the US in the 1930s under President Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882–1945) to promote economic recovery from the Great Depression. This included price stabilization through the National Recovery Administration, extension of collective bargaining through the Wagner Act, promotion of financial stability through the creation of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, social security including the creation of Aid to Families with Dependent Children, and a programme of public works including setting up the Tennessee Valley Authority.
