Māra has three daughters knows as Ratī (delight), Aratī (discontent), and Tṛṣṇā (craving). According to legend, when their father failed to prevent the Buddha gaining enlightenment (bodhi) the three daughters approached the Buddha five weeks later and attempted, also without success, to seduce him with their wiles.
