London Eye name given to the Millennium Wheel, an observation wheel erected on the banks of the Thames in London between County Hall and Jubilee Gardens and opened to the public in February 2000; its passenger-carrying capsules are designed to give a 25-mile view across the London skyline.
London particular a dense fog of a kind formerly affecting London; London fog had been used by Maria Edgeworth in a letter of 1830, but London particular is first recorded in Dickens's Bleak House (1853).
