Overview
Hieronymus
Quick Reference
Of Cardia, historian and statesman. His great history spanned the period from Alexander (2) the Great's death (323) to at least the death of Pyrrhus (272). The extant fragments only hint at its dimensions and content. Excellently informed, he supplied documentation such as the text of Alexander's Exiles' Decree, and carefully explained the motives of the various protagonists. The lively and lucid narrative was varied by pertinent digressions like the descriptions of Alexander's funeral car and the Indian practice of suttee.
