In Greek mythology, a powerful goddess, the wife and sister of Zeus and the daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She was worshipped as the queen of heaven and as a marriage goddess. Her Roman equivalent is Juno. Her name comes from Greek Hēra ‘lady’, feminine of hērōs ‘hero’, perhaps used as a title.
