A field of applied psychology devoted to education. In the US, educational psychologists are trained in education rather than psychology, and they work mainly as counsellors in universities and colleges. In the UK they are trained in both psychology and education and are employed mainly in child guidance clinics and school psychological services or as independent or private consultants. This is called school psychology in the US. The work of educational or school psychologists involves the diagnosis and treatment of educational, emotional, and behavioural problems in children of all ages up to the late teens.
