A condition (included in the DSM-IV appendix of conditions meriting further study, but not in the ICD-10 classification) characterized by recurrent episodes of binge eating, with similar signs and symptoms to bulimia nervosa but without the compensatory behaviour intended to prevent weight gain, such as self-induced vomiting, misuse of laxatives or diuretics, enemas, fasting, or excessive exercise.
