A complex training process that enables an athlete to control attention. It involves developing intervention strategies that help athletes avoid undue stress by controlling their attention and to focus it more effectively. The training includes learning to recognize different attentional styles, learning to understand individual attention strengths and weaknesses, and learning to identify the specific attentional demands of a given sport, and to identify factors that can affect attention (e.g. competitors and spectators).
