Āraṇyakaparvan

The third book of the Mahābharata. This is one of the longest books in the epic, but it contains much non-narrative material, swelling out the Pāṇḍavas' twelve years of exile in the forest with various supernatural adventures, stories, and teachings. Among others, it contains the famous story of Nala and Damayantī, and the equally well-known account of the devoted wife Sāvitrī, and her encounter with Yama.
