Dates of plays and translation of titles

Dates of plays are of first production, unless otherwise noted. Foreign play titles follow the most commonly seen version when an English translation of the work is known to exist, but often there is no standard translated title, and more often no translation at all. In such circumstances the contributor has given a translation designed to convey the sense and quality of the original title.
