Edwin La Dell studied at Sheffield School of Art and at the Royal College of Art in London under John Nash and Barnett Freedman. During World War II he made several independent submissions to the War Artists Advisory Committee and was commissioned to produce public murals and design camouflage for the Civil Defence Camouflage Establishment in Leamington Spa.
