The god of mischief and discord, who was instrumental in the death of *Balder. Loki discovered that mistletoe was the only substance that had not been asked by Balder's mother Frigga to swear that it would not harm her son and so was the only thing to which Balder was vulnerable. Loki shaped a dart from the wood and tricked the blind god Hod into throwing it at Balder, who immediately fell dead to the ground. For this Loki was punished by the gods by being bound to a rock.... ...
