Granada, Andalusia, Spain. The Alhambra is a marvellous ornament on the eastern edge of the city of Granada. A heterogeneous group of buildings rises high on a hill which commands fine views back towards the old city of Granada, the Albaicín, and far out into the countryside, dominated by the mountains of the Sierra Nevada whose peaks, as often as not, are shrouded in snow. The buildings themselves, and, in particular, the exquisite patios enclosed by them, must delight any visitor. However, exactly what these buildings are and how they assumed their present appearance is a story that is hard to unravel and many fanciful interpretations of them have been presented.... ...
