This musical revue centred upon capital punishment and proved to be somewhat heavy going for audiences, especially in the USA. Devised by David Wright and directed by Braham Murray, the show was first staged in the UK in 1964 at Oxford University where the writers involved included Robert Hewison, Michael Palin and Terry Jones. The show ran at the university for 11 days before transferring to London’s West End where it ran at the Comedy Theatre for six weeks. The Broadway version was produced by Marion Javits, the musical director was Jonathan Anderson and the cast included Michael Berkson, Jordan Charney, Charles Gray, Virgina Mason, Paul Michael, Jenny O’Hara, ... ...
