Retailer which now sells just about anything from its online ecommerce store, but when it was first started by Jeff Bezos in 1994, it was as an online bookstore. For this reason, it has had a large impact on publishers and how they sell their books. From the beginning of the service, the prices were seen to undercut high-street bookshop prices. Controversially, Amazon intended to rapidly expand its business by selling books at a loss. No doubt, there have been benefits to customers, but some would argue that this is at the expense of traditional bookshops, who have struggled to survive in this changing retail marketplace. ... ...
