Ski Jumping
In the sport of ski jumping competitors aim to float through the air on very wide, long, Nordic-style skis as far as possible down a prepared, snow-covered hill, with both the flight and the landing in the athlete’s control. The ideal body type favors the tall, broad, yet light, jumper, which enables women to compete competitively with men. Historically, ski jumping was associated with good training for everyday transportation in the Norwegian winter environment.
