(b St Petersburg, 1986)
She trained at the Vaganova Academy and graduated into the Mariinsky Ballet in 2003, where she became principal in 2008. A dancer of exceptionally long, flexible limbs, her extreme athleticism made her initial promotion controversial, although her interpretations have subsequently matured in expression and style. She is particularly associated with the Balanchine repertory and has guested with several companies, including Tokyo National Theatre and Vienna State Opera Ballet. She won the Vaganova competition in 2002.
