Italian dancer. Her promising career was the shortest on record. After training with the Milan prima ballerina Amina Boschetti, and studying with Mme Dominique in Paris she created the role of Swanilda in the first production of Coppélia in Paris in 1870. She danced it eighteen times before contracting a fever and died on her seventeenth birthday.
