glaciation 

1 The process by which supercooled water droplets change into ice crystals in the top of a cumulonimbus cloud as it reaches the calvus stage. The cloud may subsequently develop capillatus features or a cirrus plume, or become an anvil cloud (incus.)

2 An alternative term for glacial phase or ice age.

3 The state of being covered by a glacier, ice cap, or ice sheet.
