Richard Holmes, CBE, TD, was Professor of Military and Security Studies at Cranfield University and the Royal Military College of Science in the UK. He presented the popular BBC television series 'War Walks' and 'The Western Front'. His publications include The Second World War in Photographs (2000), The Western Front (1999), and War Walks (1996). A reserve infantry officer for over 30 years, his last military appointment was as Director of Reserve Forces and Cadets in MOD.

Charles Singleton, is a freelance museum consultant and historical researcher specialising in the 17th and 18th centuries. He is the author of The Army of Montrose and the Military Revolution, and Uncharitable Mischief, barbarity and excess in the British Civil Wars. He is currently writing a book on the 1645 Naseby Campaign and has a book on the infantry of the Royalist Oxford Army in preparation.

Dr Spencer Jones, is a lecturer in History at the University of Birmingham.
