Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)

A comprehensive trade and investment agreement covering twelve Pacific Rim economies, concluded in 2015. The agreement covers trade, investment, services, intellectual property, and agriculture. Negotiation of the TPP agreement attracted a great deal of criticism, in part because of the highly secretive nature of negotiations as well as the inclusion of an investor-state dispute settlement process. While India is not currently a signatory to the TPP, it has expressed interest in possible future participation.
