Toowoomba

Australia’s second most populous inland city and largest inland non-capital city. Situated in south-eastern Queensland, about eighty miles from Brisbane, Toowoomba is the commercial centre of the Darling Downs, a long-established farming region of rolling hills and pastures. It first became a significant urban centre after Queensland was established as a colony in 1859, and achieved city status in 1904. The University of Southern Queensland is based in the city. Known as the Garden City, Toowoomba holds the Australian Carnival of Flowers Festival every September.
