(May 7, 2003) OxfordReference.com, the electronic resource from Oxford University Press, won the 2003 Codie Award for Best Online Reference at the 18th Annual Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) Conference. The award was presented at a black-tie gala last night at the conclusion of the SIIA 2003 Annual Conference at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco, CA.
SIIA's Codie Awards showcase the finest products and services in the software and information industry. The Codies are also the only peer recognition program for software developers, providing a unique opportunity for companies to compete for recognition from their competitors. Codie Awards finalists represent a wide variety of companies that range from emerging start-ups to traditional industry powerhouses like Microsoft, IBM and Oracle.
"We're absolutely thrilled that the software industry chose to honor Oxford - a traditional reference publisher - as we move towards combining online and print references into a single integrated program", noted Lisa Nachtigall, Associate Director of Sales and Marketing, Online Products for OUP USA. "Oxford is committed to delivering authoritative content to users in the best format, whether that is between the covers of a book or online - or both!"
"The Software & Information Industry Association congratulates Oxford University Press on winning a 2003 Codie Award," said Ken Wasch, President of SIIA, "in a category with first-rate competition. Being a finalist is a solid achievement and winning a Codie Award is a high honor."
