The Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro–Latin American Biography

Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro–Latin American Biography

Published by OUP and edited by Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Franklin Knight, this six volume, 2,000 entry, 3,000 page reference work, covers the lives and legacies of notable figures of African descent who have influenced the history of Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Alongside the African American National Biography and Dictionary of African Biography, The Dictionary of Caribbean and Afro-Latin American Biography is the third in a series of reference works focusing on the history of people of Afro-descent. Combined, the three publications include records of more than 10,000 lives and form an ongoing research and publishing project.
